CORONADO REALTOR GWEN HOVLAND won’t take all of the credit for her success. She attributes many of her achievements to having supportive friends. Emily Dickinson once said, “My friends are my estate.” If Hovland had a personal mission statement, this would fit the bill.

Hovland’s tight-knit circle holds a common element of earned achievement, perseverance and a profound appreciation for freedom. Five years ago, the women pictured here banded together, each pledging to push the boundaries of her physical strength and exceed her potential. In the early mornings before dawn and evenings after sunset, these professional women stole time to train for the adventure to climb Mount Whitney in one day.

“Each of these valued women continues to pursue the peaks of mountains,” Hovland says. “It is their example in the high altitudes and steep climbs that taught me once again to never underestimate the power of a steady hand, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, the poignancy of laughter. They turned my life and business around by redefining the impossible.”

Hovland makes a point of thanking the clients and people who have made a difference in her life. On the job, her topnotch negotiation skills, genuine empathy for clients’ needs and her passion for exceeding expectations earn the respect of her peers as “an inspirational Realtor’s Realtor.” And with such a solid group of inspirational influences in her life, it comes as no surprise that Gwen Hovland is a woman who moves San Diego.
