Sally Leimbach

SALLY LEIMBACH HAS A FEW philosophies and principles that she lives by in life. But when it comes to work, her motto is simply “customer service, customer service, customer service.” She says, “It is the only surefire way to get customers to come back.”

And return her customers have, for her career has moved in only one direction over the years: up. Starting in real estate sales after she attended Cal Poly in Pomona, Leimbach worked her way up to own a Century 21 office in Phoenix, Arizona. Then, just when she was firmly established in real estate, she transitioned into the title industry.

“I felt that it was a good and natural progression,” Leimbach says. “The knowledge base is common, and I developed skills that transferred well to title insurance.” Today, the recently named president of the San Diego division of Stewart Title, an NYSE company whose 2006 annual revenue was $2.5 billion, is one of the top female leaders in the industry.

Leimbach is energized by the new opportunities presented to her. She has her eyes set on increasing Stewart Title’s profitability and market recognition. “I want Stewart Title to be the name in title insurance. We have a great role to play in the real estate economy of San Diego, and I am proud that I am the individual leading the team,” says Leimbach.

Leimbach also intends to strengthen Stewart Title by luring top talent. The enthusiastic golfer emphasizes the importance of hiring the right people and keeping the people with the right knowledge around her. Though she can be exacting—Leimbach acknowledges that she dislikes inefficiency—Leimbach’s colleagues and peers applaud her for her depth of knowledge, excellent people skills and leadership style. These qualities, all told, generate for her an impressive level of influence in San Diego.

Still, the proud mother of two and grandmother of four would like people to know that she started in sales and is not afraid to admit that she leads from the heart.
