About Cool Globes
“Cool Globes: Hot Ideas for a Cooler Planet” is public art with a purpose. Launched in Chicago in June 2007, the original Cool Globes exhibit featured 130 globes, each depicting a solution to global warming. The exhibit received an enormous response from the public and media. In 2008, Cool Globes traveled to and was on display in Washington D.C. at the U.S. Botanic Garden and Kennedy Center and in San Francisco at Crissy Field. The San Diego exhibit is made possible through the generous support of Toyota.

Cool Globes was founded by mother of four and environmentalist Wendy Abrams who wanted to raise awareness of simple solutions to global warming that all individuals can implement.

Press Release
For immediate publication/announcement

The Jamul Arts and Music Council, also known as JAM, would like to invite people of all ages to the Painted Pony Arts Festival. Artistically painted live horses, genuine equine, will be on display as performance art. During the Festival, artists will be painting three life-sized foal statues. Artists will be displaying and selling their art. Children’s activities and food booths will also be a part of the Festival. Musical performances include Trails and Rails performing cowboy and train songs along with standard folk songs at 10:00. At 12:00, Skelpin will fill the air with lyrical Irish music fused with the passions of Spain, rhythms of the Middle East, and American romantic soul. Toes will be tapping. The Burnsville Band will get us rocking and dancing at 2:00 with their blistering guitars, soulful vocals, tight-pocket rhythms, smoking keyboards, and horns.

After our community was devastated by the Harris Fire, JAM decided to rise from the ashes and promote Jamul as a developing cultural center for the arts beginning with this Festival made possible by a Community Enhancement Grant from San Diego County. This Festival is one-year after the Harris Fire destroyed 285 homes in Jamul. To help continue the healing process, a Harris Fire Collage will be created. Anyone affected by the Harris Fire is invited to bring photos, poems, stories, and items that they can add to the collage.

The Festival will be on Saturday, November 8th from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. The location will be outside on the grounds of Jamul Intermediate School, rain or shine, 14545 Lyons Valley Road, Jamul. Admission is free.

JAM is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and expanding arts education and opportunities in the arts for both school and community. Please direct additional questions to JamulJam@yahoo.com.
